Teen Community Service Opportunities– Community service can be required when participating in certain clubs, like the National Honor Society. It also looks great on college applications and job resumes. North Babylon teens( grades 6-12) only. Students must have a current North Babylon Library card to receive credit for service. Below are some upcoming opportunities to earn community service credit at the Library: Teens can register online through our calendar, by phone or in person.
Food Pantry Donations CSC– Middle and High School students can earn community service hours by bringing in donations for our donation boxes by our lobby. Sealed non-expired items such as: canned or boxed non-perishable foods.
4 items = 1 hour of community service credit(CSC)
Maximum 2 hours/month. Please bring items to Reference Desk for credit.
Upcoming Community Service Credit programs. All programs require registration.
Chess Buddies CSC– Tuesdays, January 6 and 27, February 10 and 27, 6:00-7:30 PM-Help younger children improve their chess skills by playing games with them. This program will earn teens 1.5 hours of community service credit.
Bookmark Bonanza CSC– Wednesdays, January 28 and February 18, 6:00-7:00 PM- Design and create unique bookmarks to share with fellow library patrons This program will earn teens 1 hour of community service credit.
Tiny Art CSC– Wednesday, February 4, 5:00-6:00 PM- Teens will create small, vibrant works of art on tiny canvases to display in the library. This program will earn teens 1 hour of community service credit.
Thrive & Shine: A Self-Care Guide CSC– Wednesday, February 13, 3:30-4:30 PM- Thrive & Shine is an empowering program designed specifically for teens to discover the importance of self-care. Through engaging activities, practical tips, and inspiring conversations, teens will learn how to nurture their mental, emotional, and physical well-being. This program will earn teens 1 hour of community service credit.
