Teen Community Service Opportunities– Community service can be required when participating in certain clubs, like the National Honor Society. It also looks great on college applications and job resumes. North Babylon teens( grades 6-12) only. Students must have a current North Babylon Library card to receive credit for service. Below are some upcoming opportunities to earn community service credit at the Library: Teens can register online through our calendar, by phone or in person.
Food Pantry Donations CSC– Middle and High School students can earn community service hours by bringing in donations for our donation boxes by our lobby. Sealed non-expired items such as: canned or boxed non-perishable foods.
4 items = 1 hour of community service credit(CSC)
Maximum 2 hours/month. Please bring items to Reference Desk for credit.
Take Home Community Service Bags CSC– Check out our Take-Home Community Service Bags and bring them home. Use the watercolors inside to make 4 bookmarks. Cut out the bookmarks with scissors and then return them and the bag to the Reference desk to earn one hour of community service credit. A maximum of one hour per student will be accepted each month

Chess Buddies CSC– Tuesdays, May 5 and 19 and June 9 and 23, 6:00-7:30 PM-Help younger children improve their chess skills by playing games with them. This program will earn teens 1.5 hours of community service credit.
Clothing Swap Sorting CSC– Tuesday, May 5, 6:00-7:00 PM- Help the Library sort through their clothing drive donations in preparation for our clothing swap. This program will earn teens 1 hour of community service credit.
Clothing Swap Volunteers CSC– Friday, May 8, 3:00-4:00 PM OR 4:00-5:00 PM- Help the Library at their clothing swap event. This program will earn teens 1 hour of community service credit.
Decorate a Bag CSC– Wednesday, May 27, 6:00-7:00 PM- Earn community service by decorating tote bags for the library and its’ patrons. This program will earn teens 1 hour of community service credit.
Summer Reading Helpers– Saturday, June 27, 2:30-3:30 PM- Earn community service by helping the Library prepare materials for our summer reading program. This program will earn teens 1 hour of community service credit.
