Teen Community Service Opportunities– Community service can be required when participating in certain clubs, like the National Honor Society. It also looks great on college applications and job resumes. North Babylon teens( grades 6-12) only. Students must have a current North Babylon Library card to receive credit for service. Below are some upcoming opportunities to earn community service credit at the Library: Teens can register online through our calendar, by phone or in person.

Food Pantry Donations CSC–  Middle and High School students can earn community service hours by bringing in donations for our donation boxes by our lobby. Sealed non-expired items such as: canned or boxed non-perishable foods.

4 items = 1 hour of community service credit(CSC)
Maximum 2 hours/month. Please bring items to Reference Desk for credit.

Upcoming Community Service Credit programs. All programs require registration.

Chess Buddies CSC– Tuesdays, November 4 and December 9, 30. Wednesday, November 26, 6:00-7:30 PM-Help younger children improve their chess skills by playing games with them. This program will earn teens 1.5 hours of community service credit.

Gratitude and Gifts CSC– Wednesday, November 17, 6:00-7:00 PM- Join us as we explore building positive self-esteem by starting gratitude journals. This program will earn teens 1 hour of community service credit.

Dear Future Self CSC– Monday, December 8, 4:00-5:00 PM-Dear Santa Dear Future Self! Come write letters to your future self as we reflect upon this past year and set goals for the upcoming year! This program will earn teens. 1 hour of community service credit.

Tiny Art CSC– Wednesday, December 17, 6:00-7:00 PM- Teens will create small, vibrant works of art on tiny canvases to display in the library. This program will earn teens 1 hour of community service credit.
