ABMS Directory of Board Certified Specialists– This electronic directory provides quick and easy access to professional information about more than 800,000 board certified physicians in 50+ specialties and 100+ subspecialties from the 24 member boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS).

Ancestry.com—This database  provides a tremendous amount of information for anyone researching their family tree.  Information available includes: family  records (birth, death, marriage), public records (land, wills) and family tree charts.   This service is available only at the Library. 

Homework Help (FREE)– Suffolk county residents have free access to Homework Help, Skills-Building and Adult Learning Center. Spanish speaking support is available. Live academic assistance is available from Mon – Sun 2:00 — 11:00 PM EST.

Learning Express Library– Learning Express Library provides a completely interactive online learning program of e-books, practice tests and tutorial course series designed to help patrons, students, and adult learners succeed on various tests.

NEW Literati Research(LIVE-BRARY.COM)– It is a new one stop research tool for searching the Library catalog, databases, e-reference books and websites. Literati is designed to make your research time faster and more effective. Līve-brary.com is a cooperative project of the public libraries in Suffolk County.

NEXTREADS– Subscribe online, and soon you’ll be receiving great reading lists delivered right to your inbox!  Every newsletter comes with suggestions of recently released titles as well as recommendations of older books grouped by theme or author.

Online Databases(LIVE-BRARY.COM)– It is a comprehensive collection of web sites and full-text online databases, including magazines, newspapers, directories, encyclopedias, and business resources. Līve-brary.com is a cooperative project of the public libraries in Suffolk County.

Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center—Patrons have access to information on today’s hottest social issues, from Terrorism to Endangered Species, Stem Cell Research to Gun Control. The database includes: pro and con viewpoint articles, full-text magazines, academic journals and newspapers.

Pronunciator– North Babylon Library cardholders now have access to the online database, Pronunciator. It offers self-paced lessons for sixty languages. Each lesson is comprised of flashcards that are read to viewers in the language that they are trying to learn.
REFERENCE USA– The Library now subscribes to Reference USA for up-to-date business and residential information.  Search for jobs, local/out of state businesses, phone number residential/business and much more.

TumbleBooks– TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of animated, talking picture books which teach young children the joys of reading in a format they’ll love.

Patrons can apply for a temporary card online today for access to the databases and free downloads.
